Because I have nothing better to talk about, I am going to discuss Facebook. Although most people use Facebook for keeping up with old friends, most who you probably hated in high school anyways, it can be used for more than that. A recent article claims that a New York teenager was set to go to jail for a string of armed robberies, but to their surprise he was saved by nothing more than a Facebook status update. I guess I never thought Facebook could be used for something more than teenage nonsense. Thanks to Facebook a teenager dodged twenty-five years in prison. Now don’t get me wrong, I think that Facebook also has its downfalls. For example, other articles say that there are thousands of sex offenders on it because they were kicked off of MySpace. Facebook has no real process to creating an account; as long as you have an active e-mail address your welcome to join. In Facebook’s defense, it does have security options available, but you need to go in and set them. Now, as to how reliable some of these sources are, I have no answer. As many of us know, anyone can post anything on the internet, just like I am now. I guess the point to this whole mess is that we never know when we will be accused of something that we honestly did not do, but sometimes the thing that proves our innocence is found in our everyday things, like posting on our Facebook page.
